This is written in a fresh bouncy YA way and I enjoyed it. Zillael (prob. spelt that wrong)is the type of older teen that always seems to be in detention, due to her attitude. She hates the small town she lives in, the people around her, the fact her mom is never around and of course the way everyone stares at her because she is a beauty. During a detention stint in which she has to serve punch to fellow classmates, she is attacked by vampire like beings and that is when she finds out that not only are some people around her not entirely human, but neither is she. The only thing that bothered me about the storyline is that it took me a while to figure out her age, because in the beginning she appears to be much younger (based on reactions in class and classmates) and it wasn’t until the author mentioned a car she drove on occasion, that I realised she must be over 16. The scenes with the young male vamp in her bedroom are a bit racy (only a tidge, so I would recommend that the reader be over a certain age). THe book ends in a way that interestingly enough you have to read the first book to understand where and who Zill actually is. I recommend that readers of supernatural/para fantasy give this author a go.
