This is a character-driven story, which McCarty is always great at. Really an enjoyable reading experience. But I think she’s also great at an erotic love scene, and this book fell short. All the matings in this book were “marriages of convenience” so the sex wasn’t romantic. But it wasn’t even erotic either, they just sort of “had to” do it, since they are now mates. 4 stars for a great story but a lack of heat!

I don’t normally read historical romances set in the West, but I’m so glad I picked up Tracker’s Sin. Honestly, once I picked it up, I didn’t want to put it down! I whole-heartedly recommend this book and I’ll be reading others in the Hell’s Eight series as well.
